Therapy for Adults and even their extended family
(inside and outside of the primary home)
Are you an adult child who wants to improve your relationship with your adult siblings, parents or in-laws?
Is your family geographically scattered but wants to feel more relationally connected and in touch with one another?
Do you have a strained relationship with an extended family member, and you want to work it out before the opportunity passes?
Do you have trauma from your childhood that’s been swept under the rug for too long, and now, in adulthood, it’s become apparent that it’s impacting your family relationships and you want that to change?
Now that you’re a parent, are you realizing there are some important things you need to talk about with your parents if they’re going to be involved in you and your kids lives… but you either don’t know where to begin or you’re scared speaking up will just make matters worse?
Traditional family therapy is a form of talk therapy focused mainly on the current, primary family unit (ex: parents who live in the same household and their children). This form of therapy is clinical in nature, which means it takes a diagnostic approach to working with a family. This model has its place and has helped many struggling families.
The customized family coaching Dr. Toni offers is different than traditional family therapy. Dr. Toni works with all relevant adults in the primary or extended family unit, and supports them with moving forward together in a healthier manner using tools and techniques that extend beyond traditional "talk" therapy, as appropriate. This model allows for greater cohesion, communication and connection across generations of family members, which will trickle down and make a positive impact on up-coming generations as well.
While this service is customized to fit your goals, situation and needs, you can generally expect that all involved family members will be requested to attend both individual and family sessions in order to work things through effectively.
